Rummy Game Rules

Welcome to FlushNPlay! Below are the official rules for playing Indian Rummy on our platform. These rules apply to Points Rummy, Deals Rummy, and Pool Rummy formats unless specified otherwise.

1. Objective of the Game

The main goal of rummy is to arrange all 13 cards in valid sequences and/or sets. A valid declaration requires:

  • At least two sequences.
  • At least one of the two sequences must be a pure sequence (without a joker).
  • All remaining cards should be arranged into valid sets or sequences.

2. Terminology

  • Sequence: Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. (e.g., 4♥ 5♥ 6♥)
  • Pure Sequence: A sequence without any joker. This is mandatory.
  • Impure Sequence: A sequence that includes a joker as a substitute.
  • Set: Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. (e.g., 7♠ 7♥ 7♣)
  • Joker: Printed jokers and one randomly selected card at the start of each game act as wild cards.

3. How to Play

Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard deck. The remaining cards form the draw pile, and the top card is placed face-up to start the discard pile. Players take turns to:

  • Pick a card from the draw pile or the discard pile.
  • Discard a card to the discard pile.
  • Form sequences and sets while minimizing the total value of unmatched cards.

Once you have a valid hand, you can declare your cards. The system will automatically verify your declaration.

4. Winning a Game

A player wins the game by making a valid declaration first. If the declaration is correct, they win with 0 points, and all other players’ points are calculated based on their unmatched cards.

5. Scoring

Each card has a point value:

  • Number cards (2 to 10): Face value (e.g., 7 = 7 points)
  • Face cards (J, Q, K, A): 10 points each
  • Jokers: 0 points

The losing players' scores are the total of all unmatched cards. The maximum penalty per game is capped at 80 points.

6. Drop Rules

  • First Drop: -20 points
  • Middle Drop: -40 points
  • Invalid Declaration: -80 points

7. Valid Declarations

A valid declaration must include:

  • One pure sequence (e.g., 5♦ 6♦ 7♦)
  • One additional sequence (pure or impure)
  • Remaining cards in valid sequences or sets

Declarations without a pure sequence or insufficient groupings will be rejected and scored as invalid.

Collusion, use of bots, or any unfair means is strictly prohibited. Accounts violating fair play guidelines will be suspended or permanently banned. All games are monitored using automated systems and reviewed by our security team.
